First Week Blog
The first week of class was very informative of what to expect this coming semester. As a class we all agreed on a participation rubric. Which included providing and receiving feedback, meaningful questions, problem solving in and out of class, being helpful to peers with ideas and technical problems, and last taking notes in class. On Wednesday we went over a slideshow of incredible works of art and discussed how we could be doing better in electronic art in this day and age. The technology that we use now is so much stronger, so it is fun to think of the possibilities in electronic art. My favorite piece was Deborah Hays "Solo". After that we discussed Interactive art as " conversational" and Reactive art as "responds to input". Then went over the concept and examples of input, distance, color, light. And examples of outputs, anything electrical, sound. We then went over our first project, creating significant, meaningful art work that incorporates rich physical interactivity. And finally we played around with circuits, which was interesting to see how powerful such a small machine has.
